In Part 10, the guys are up at 4am again today for a bus ride to Babahoyo, Ecuador. In the heat of the day, they sweat through a session at the local skatepark while the equator furnace blazes down upon them. Fighting back with sunblock, fruit cups, plastic pouches of water, they still manage to rip the park. John decides it’s time to bring the Wild Gecko shorts into play, which marked a monumental milestone for this tour.

I loaded Joey Chase, Jeremy Spira, Montre Livingston and Matty Shrock in my car. Through the sandy roads of the dry hot and brutal desert, we sought solace from the weather by driving at night. This week would be full of endless nights and cloudy dreams. NIMH Week!

John and Montre arrived in Quito, Ecuador and begin the tour through the country with the guys from Artextremo. Riding on a new private tour bus, they wind through the mountains stopping at skate parks and cities along the way, showing Ecuador some of the best skating it’s ever seen.

Marc Moreno has been enjoying the streets of Barcelona on his skates for years now. Coming from such an urban skatepark he has progressed on all skill levels. WHEN PEOPLE THINK OF THE SPANISH SKATING SCENE YOUR NAME ALWAYS POPS UP; WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?

I guess since I’ve been skating for so long now and as a lot of people have come to Barcelona (BCN) so I’ve had the chance to skate with them. I actually think I know at least one person from every country of Europe. Also because I always try to be a good ambassador for my land Catalunya, not Spain.

WHAT’S IT LIKE LIVING IN ONE OF THE BEST CITIES TO SKATE IN?

Awhile ago, when I was a kid I used to think BCN sucked compared to other places. You know, always thinking about perfect rails from America and shit, but when I grew up I just realized how lucky I was. And obviously I am.

This year’s Bitter Cold Showdown was yet again another amazing year of skating, fun, debauchery and drama. It was great seeing so many skaters year after year converging on one spot, killing it and having a blast. Congratulations to 4×4 and Ground Control’s Chris Haffey for taking first place!
